Product Information

Tin bronze, also known as phosphor bronze, contains between 0.5 and 11% tin and 0.01 to 0.35% phosphorus.  Alloyed tin increases the corrosion resistance and strength of copper, while phosphorus increases its wear resistance and stiffness.

Another type of bronze is gunmetal, also known as red bronze. It contains lead and zinc surcharges which improve its machining qualities.

Tin bronze is used for springs, screws, bushings, bearings, electrical switches with moving or sliding parts, gearboxes, pump components, piston rings, propellers, wind instruments, etc. It is also used in cryogenics as it combines good electrical and low thermal conductivity.

We supply bronze in the form of bars (round, flat, square, hexagonal, hollow) and tubes.

Below you will find a selection of the most common material grades we work with. Notice for the EN 1982 standard: We usually use the prefix CC (e.g., CC492K), which denotes castings, but you may encounter the prefix CB (e.g., CB492K) elsewhere, indicating ingots. The prefix CW denotes wrought alloys.
