Industrial use of non-ferrous metals and cast iron
Although bronze, brass, copper, aluminium, and cast iron have been known to humanity for thousands of years, they still play a crucial role today. Their resistance to wear and corrosion, thermal and electrical conductivity, as well as malleability and workability, make non-ferrous metals and cast iron key materials across all sectors of modern industry, including:
- Mechanical engineering (automobiles, locomotives, agricultural machinery, cranes, lifts, metallurgical machines, presses, textile machines, woodworking machines),
- Electrical engineering (transformers, conductors, switchboards, coils),
- Shipbuilding industry (propellers, hulls, transport containers, hydraulic systems, valves),
- Railway industry (braking systems, radiators and heat exchangers, rail systems, trams),
- Defence industry (cartridges, weapon bearings, hydraulic systems for armoured vehicles, communication equipment),
- Construction industry (building structures, renovations, gutters, downspouts, roofing, facade cladding, window sills, cornices, ventilation grilles, vents, heating, plumbing, air conditioning),
- Energy sector (transformers, cabling, casings, covers, brackets, sliding bearings, turbine components, heat exchangers),
- Chemical and food industry (seats, valves, reactors, containers and tanks, pumps, sliding plates, moulds, fittings, packaging),
- Art industry (restoration, sculptures, artistic castings and forging, jewellery, decorative elements, bells, musical instruments),
- Glass industry (moulds, frames, tools),
- Medical and laboratory industry (containers, cooling systems, filters, sterilisation tools, valves).
Material Properties
The choice of a suitable metal material or a standardised alloy naturally depends on its specific application. We are happy to assist with your selection, as we have over 30 years of experience in the field. Below, we provide a table of common material categories along with a generalised summary of their technical properties.
We offer a wide range of semi-finished products in various profiles, including round bars (rods), tubes (pipes, bushings), square bars (flat bars), hexagonal bars, and sheets. We have a large quantity of material in stock and several band saws that allow us to cut semi-finished products into precise pre-final components (with a tolerance of ±1 mm). This enables us to respond quickly to urgent machining, repair, and maintenance orders. We cater to both large-scale production orders and special requests from individual tradespeople.
